Granton Village Board Hears Waste Water Report

-The Granton Village Board heard the Waste Water Report at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, they degreased the lift station, ran the emergency generators, checked Gilbertson’s sewer line, had a conference call with the DNR regarding a permit, sampling for spring discharge has begun, the consumer reports were printed and prepared to send out to all residents, monthly reports were completed, the Chemical Feed Pump in Well 5 was repaired and they completed the annual water inspection with DNR. This report was presented and reviewed by the board. General maintenance included cleaning and painting the office, repaired a lock on well 4, dug a grave for Harry Zaleski, a new steering column was put in the dump truck, they placed a camera at the park to determine who is doing burn outs and they replaced the broken window in the old backhoe. The board also heard the Clerk’s Report. The audit is complete and she attended several Rails to Trails meetings. A FEMA meeting was held at the office and it was suggested they designate a storm shelter and review their emergency plan. They also met with the DNR to discuss a permit.

The contract with Hawkins Ash for auditing service for the next three years was presented. Costs for 2019 are $17,580, 2020 is $18,370 and 2021 is $19,200. The board discussed and suggested the village put the audit out for bid to ensure this is cost effective and they will revisit it in May. Finally, the board heard the Treasurer’s Report. The beginning balance in checking was $124,260.79 and ending balance is $113,181.65. The beginning balance in the money market account was $619,794.42 and ending balance is $538,593.63. There was a transfer of $100,000 to cover February settlement checks. They received a $1500 donation in memory of Harry Zaleski for a park bench or something similar with a very nice letter from the family. The Village Hall was rented for $50, they received fine money from clerk of courts and they received rebate money from bulbs.
