Granton Village Board Discusses Snow Removal

Sunday, March 17th, 2019 -- 6:14 AM

-The Granton Village Board discussed snow removal at their meeting on Wednesday.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, they discussed a couple of snow related ideas that would help the fire department function efficiently in case of a fire. Keeping the hydrants clear of snow and moving the snow piles further away from the garage doors will allow the firetrucks to maneuver in and out more efficiently. Village employees will try to accommodate. The board also heard the Neillsville Ambulance got a new ambulance and the 1st responders purchased the old one. During the open forum, Sherriff Scott Haines advised that Neillsville is almost at full staff and there is a future plan to send a car through Granton and to support the school. The board also heard the Water Report. Chlorine and Bac T samples were taken, the PSC report was completed, they repaired water main leak on Maple, and looked for a water leak on Parkway but determined there was none.

A new culvert would help with the water buildup. Also, water was shut off for nonpayment and turned back on once the bill was paid. They met with DNR to discuss 2019 water requirements and a report was presented and reviewed. They also provided a road update. There has been lots of plowing, snow removal, sidewalk clean up and sanding/salting this month. Equipment repair included the PTO shaft on the street sweeper and they repaired backhoe brakes. General duties included FEMA meeting to discuss an update to emergency plans, shoveling roofs and disposing of a sick coon.
