Granton School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Granton School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Monday.Superintendent Scott Woodington updated the board on the legislative meeting held at Medford High school on March 4th. Some of the area superintendents presented information and questions to the five legislators that attended the meeting. Topics discussed was Governor Ever’s budget, school safety grant and concerns, challenges to meet English Language Learners needs, and special education funding including the significant amount of funds that are transferred from the general fund to cover special education costs.
The school start date was also discussed with the overwhelming support from the audience to allow districts to have local control over when to start school. Mr. Woodington also presented information from the Baird Budget Forecast model providing spending scenarios and the impact on the local tax levy.
