The presentation included that the program has grown from 7 students in 2016-17 to 28 students last year and 38 students this school year. The program has a wide variety of careers being experienced by the students. Paperwork to get students registered and make sure they are meeting competencies is a big part of the program. Communication and coordination with employers is a big key to success. Currently, there are 60 students signed up for the YA program for the 2019-20 school year.
The board also heard an update on the Legislative Meeting held in Medford. Several of the board members attended the Legislative Meeting in Medford on March 4th. All were impressed with how well the program was run and the format that was used for the event. Good conversation about the content and the amount of information learned was shared by the members who attended. The board provided a thank you to the Medford School District for hosting the event.
