Holland's Family Cheese Dominates at 2019 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest

-The 2019 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest took place this week at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

Some local dairy’s, such as Holland’s Family Cheese and Lynn Dairy, are making Wisconsin and Clark County proud by earning high spots in the competition. Some other dairy’s placing well in the competition include Nasonville Dairy earning second place with a score of 99.20 for flavored feta and Grassland Dairy Products received second with a score of 99.60 in the Milk Protein Isolate category with their product of the same name. But Holland’s Family Cheese has been dominating with many awards. The earned the first and second runner up 2019 Championship title with scores of 98.41 and 98.39, just barely missing the top spot score of 98.54 by a team from Ohio. They also earned second place with a score of 99.60 in the Gouda category with their Marieke Gouda Mature. They also received Best in Class for their Marieke Gouda Overjarige with the Aged Gouda category with a score of 98.85. Holland’s received both Second and Third in the Flavored Gouda category with a score of 99.10 and 98.95 for their Marieke Gouda Truffle and Marieke Gouda Burning Melange.

They received third in the Smoked Gouda category with a score of 99.70 for their Marieke Gouda Smoked Cumin. Holland’s also received third with a score of 98.80 in the Open Class Pepper Flavored Cheese Mild Heat category with their Marieke Gouda Hatch Pepper. They took first and second with scores of 98.85 and 98.70 in the Open Class Hard Cheeses with their Marieke Gouda Premium and Marieke Gouda Mature. Finally, they received second with a score of 98.95 in the Open Class Flavored Cheese with Sweet Condiments category with their Marieke Thorp Cheese. Many of our local dairy’s also did well in the various categories, they just didn’t receive places in the top three.
