Lublin Man Arrested for Church Vandalism in Neillsville

Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 -- 12:31 PM

-A man has been charged for the vandalizing of church here in the City of Neillsville.

According to a press release from the Neillsville Police Department, on Friday of last week, officers were called to St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Black River Road due to vandalism that occurred there during the late night/early morning hours. When officers arrived, they discovered several religious statues and wall hangings that had been severely damaged throughout much of the church and worship area. No injuries were reported, but damage to church property was significant.

After an investigation and a tip regarding a person of interest, 42-year-old Seth Meier of Lublin has been arrested. According to court records, Meier had allegedly joined a cult. Witnesses say he was also speaking in demonic voices while he was vandalizing the church. Meier is being charged with burglary of a building or dwelling and criminal damage to religious property. Meir is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
