Owen City Council Approves Planning Committee Resignation

-The Owen City Council approved a Planning Committee resignation and appointment at their meeting last week.The council approved to accept the resignation of Nancy Garrett and the appointment of Bob Wilzcek to replace Nancy on the Planning Committee. The City of Owen appreciates Nancy for her service. During the Public Opinion portion of the meeting, a resident voiced her concern over the amount of snow that was piled on both the yard and the driveway of their property at 406 E. 4th St. Finally, the council heard the Community Development Authority’s Report. Director Tim Swiggum stated the Annual Business Expo will be held April 6th at the Old School. There is still interest in a new business/building by Hwy 29 overpass.
He also said the city is down to only a sign needed by the Growin’ Owen project for the City to receive their $20,000 grant. Tim has been working with Mayor Milliren on the traffic counter for the quite zone; installing it, moving it at the various crossings, getting it to relay its information to us. The Downtown Revitalization Committee will be meeting again to get moving on spring/summer projects.
