State Transportation Secretary Talks Gas Tax

(WRN) -Governor Evers staff are taking time to explain and make the case for the Governor's budget proposals.State Transportation Secretary Scott Thompson says a provision to raise the gas tax by 8 cents won't harm most people's pocketbooks.
"If you drive a sedan that gets about 28, 29 miles per gallon, it will cost you about 3 dollars a month or 36 dollars a year more, and I think what you'll see is that the roads will get better, so I think that's a pretty good value proposition."
Evers' budget plans to offset that increase by repealing the state's minimum markup law, which he says will push gas prices down.
