Owen City Council Hears Police Commission Report

-The Owen City Council heard the Owen-Withee Police Commission Report at their meeting last week.

The commission had approved the hiring of Christopher Brandner by Owen Police Chief Ibarra as his part time officer. Officer Brander is currently an investigator with the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department and will be working for them approximately 24 hours a month. The commission also granted Chief Ibarra permission to retain his status as a part time officer for the county. Also, the commission approved an increase in Chief Ibarra’s pay of $1 an hour to $27 per hour as was voted on in closed session. The committee feels the Chief has been doing an exceptional job and will conduct another review in 6 months. The council also heard the Personnel Committee Report. The committee has offered Tammy Rau the position of Deputy City Clerk and she has accepted. This is a part-time position of 25 hours per week. Tammy began on Monday, March 4th and will be paid $15.50 an hour.

The council heard the Parks and Rec Report. They approved allowing the Parks & Rec Committee to advertise for bids for the construction project of the new bathrooms/showers at Crowley Park. This project will be funded by monies from the Owen Public Housing Corporation. Finally, the council approved the America in Bloom annual membership of $1,089.
