USDA Announced February Class III Milk Price

The USDA announced that the February Class III milk price was released at $13.89 per hundredweight.That's down seven-cents from January's price, but 49-cents higher than February 2018. For the entire year of 2018, the Class III price averaged $14.61. The Class IV component price was 38-cents higher than last month's price at $15.86, and $2.99 more than last February. Meanwhile, the Wisconsin all milk price for January was $16.20 per hundredweight, according to the latest USDA Agricultural Prices report. That's 20-cents higher than last month's price, but a dime lower than the same month a year earlier. The U.S. all milk price for January was $16.60 per cwt, 40-cents higher than Wisconsin's price and 20-cents more than last month's U.S. price.
Sixteen of the 23 major milk producing states had a higher price when compared with December. Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.61 per pound on February 28, while barrels were $1.41 per pound. The CME butter price was $2.26 per pound. For the week ending February 23, the Agricultural Marketing Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $1.51 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $1.36 per pound.
