(WRN) -Governor Tony Evers first budget will include nearly 28 million dollars for women's health care issues. The provision most likely to be opposed by Republicans calls for restoring funding for Planned Parenthood that was blocked by former Republican Governor Scott Walker. Evers also wants to to address racial disparities in infant and maternal mortality rates.
His plan includes expanding the home nurse visiting program to serve more mothers living in poverty, expanding Medicaid coverage for mother’s experiencing postpartum depression, and grant funding for doula training and Medicaid coverage for doula services.
