File Your Taxes As Early As Possible this Year

(WRN) -For many of us filing federal income taxes is going to look a bit different this year.When you go to file your federal taxes this year, you'll find the Form 1040 is the only form you or your tax preparer can use. But Madison-based tax and financial advisor Marshall Mennenga notes:
"They turned the two page 1040 into a new eight page 1040, and actually two of the pages have less than an inch of information on a full sheet of paper."
Mennenga says Congress and the Trump administration wanted a smaller, easier tax form.
"The instructions to the IRS were to have the 1040 as the only form available to file returns. Now, the act also requested the IRS make the 1040 the size of a postcard."
Congress had directed the IRS to make the 1040 the size of a postcard, when it passed new tax provisions at the end of 2017. Mennenga advises that you file your taxes as early as possible this year.
