Neillsville City Council Approves Wastewater Capacity Analyses

Friday, January 25th, 2019 -- 9:06 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a Wastewater Capacity Analyses at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council approved this during the public works portion of their meeting a couple weeks ago, but they didn’t have it on the agenda of the regular common council meeting on January 8th, so they couldn’t take any action on it. The purpose of the analyses is to make sure the city’s system will be able to handle the hospital facility and any other future developments that may arise. The council also approved to advertise for bids on the former Christie Property on Main Street. Some other items from the meeting including a resident raising concerns about the city’s lack of response to the Figi’s employees losing their jobs and lack of housing in Neillsville. The council was also reminded about the trial against a city resident who became disorderly during a meeting, the Emerald Ash Borer being found in Clark County, Figi’s closure, Shopko filing bankruptcy and the recipient of a housing loan filing for bankruptcy. It was also mentioned that the county taxi system saw an increase of 700 riders in 2018 and they’re operating around $26.12 per hour.

Finally, the council heard reports from a Heritage Days Committee meeting held on January 16th and a property committee meeting held on January 21st. They also heard the public works report. The usual amount of work was done in the city including equipment maintenance, including $3,300 for a new transmission in a dump truck and $4,500 for the rebuild of the leaf vacuum. They also did some snow and ice removal, parks maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, maintain street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost and more. They did some work on meters and lift stations. They’re also dealing with a house near the Jail Museum that has lead paint issues.
