-DNA from a coffee cup has allowed charges to be filed from a 2016 snowmobile theft case that occurred in Merillan.According to investigators, back in January of 2016, two victims stated that early in the morning they heard two snowmobiles close to their house. When they looked outside, they noticed their snowmobiles were missing. The owner actually chased after the robber, firing a gun in the air, but he eventual lost him. Both snowmobiles were eventually found, with one located on a trail and the other at a farm in Pittsville. The owner of the farm said that a man had come to the home and said he ran out of gas. The owner of the farm offered the man an omelet and a cup of coffee.
The coffee cup DNA was matched to DNA swabbed from a cigarette butt and a snowmobile helmet. 23-year-old Johan Miller has been charged for the thefts.
