Owen City Council Hears Update on House of Friends Program

-The Owen City Council heard an update on the House of Friends Program at their meeting last week.The House of Friends Program was not allowed at the Old School after the 1st of the year due to lack of acceptable insurance. The situation has since been rectified with the House of Friends obtaining insurance from an alternate source. The council also heard the Community Development Authority’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported the bid opening for the Heartland Rail Spur had been moved to early February. Tim has been working on the Real Estate Transfers for Heartland, but he will still have to issue an alternate tax bill to Heartland as some of the parcels are in the previous owner’s name, with a small parcel of land belonging to the State of Wisconsin.
The Planning Committee has met twice with a Planning Survey enclosed in the quarterly water bills sent out early this month. The Owen-Withee Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their 17th Annual Businessman’s Gathering Feb. 4th at Beaver’s Bar and Grill in Withee. The speaker will be Riley Hebert, the head of the Clark County Young Professionals. The Annual Business Expo will be held April 6th.
