Granton Village Board Discusses Minors and Tobacco Ordinance
Saturday, January 12th, 2019 -- 7:59 AM
The Granton Village Board discussed their minors and tobacco ordinance at their meeting on Wednesday.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, it was requested the village review the ordinance and include vaping in the ordinance. Due to the fact that the village no longer has a police officer to uphold the ordinance, and because of the time and money involved with updating the ordinance, the update of this ordinance will be placed on hold. The Village President also congratulated their newly hired public works employee for working a recent snow storm by himself and doing a great job. Finally, the board heard the Water Report. Chlorine and Bac T samples were taken, 4th Quarter meter readings were completed, curb stops were added to the digital mapping and they took the quarterly VOC test.
They’re also studying for the next water test. The public works employees met with the John Deere sales rep and test drove the backhoe the village was looking at purchasing. General maintenance included cleaning out the police office and getting it ready to rent, took down Christmas lights, replaced lights in the shop and well 5 and plowed and sanded roads after the snow storm.
