Neillsville City Council Hears Public Works Report

Thursday, January 10th, 2019 -- 10:10 AM

-During the Public Works portion of the meeting, the Neillsville City Council approved a Wastewater Capacity Analysis from MSA Professional Services.

Dave Flynn, Public Works Director for Neillsville, believes this analysis is necessary because of the new hospital. Dave feels it’s a good idea to learn what kind of impact a new hospital facility or other new development will have on the city’s wells and treatment facilities. The cost will be $3,500. The City Council approved this during the Public Works portion of the meeting, however it didn’t receive final approved during the Common Council meeting because it wasn’t put on the agenda. The council will approve it at the next meeting. Also, during the Public Works portion of the meeting, it was mentioned that the usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, equipment maintenance, removing of Christmas decorations and chipping old Christmas trees.

Also, there was trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost, snow and ice removal and more. The Water Department is also working on valve maintenance and the Sewer Department is working on manhole maintenance. The council also heard that a new officer will be hired by the Neillsville Police Department however, the council didn’t need to take any action on the item as it was approved during a Police and Fire Commission Meeting just before the Common Council meeting.
