Black River Falls Chamber of Commerce Warns About Scam

-The Black River Falls Chamber of Commerce is warning businesses in the Black River Falls area about a scam.A company called Universal ADCOM/Hometown Productions out of Texas recently sent maps of Black River Falls to some businesses. They apparently approached local businesses this past summer asking them to purchase ads in a "new city map for Black River Falls". The maps have contact info for City Hall on them and also Black River Falls Police Department's name on them. Universal ADCOM/Hometown Productions has NO affiliation with City Hall or the Black River Falls Police Department. Two years ago, they received a phone call from a concerned Chamber member. She said she had been sent an ad proof and invoice from Universal ADCOM/Hometown Productions out of Texas for some sort of ad. The company then called her and said they were affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce.
She sent the chamber a copy of the ad proof and invoice, and they had never heard of the company before. At the time, they did a search online and found that many people have had problems with them and they have claimed to be affiliated with other Chambers of Commerce around the United States. It appears they make magnets, t-shirts, place mats, business cards and other promotional items. The chamber just wanted to let people know that if you receive anything from Universal ADCOM/Hometown Productions or a phone call from them, they are in no way affiliated with City Hall, the Black River Falls Police Department or the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce.
