Marshfield’s Figi’s Laying Off 276 Employees

Closures have been announced for Marshfield’s Figi’s, laying off 276 employees.Figi’s, which is owned by Mason Companies, was founded in 1944. Mason Companies bought it in 2013, when it was suffering financially because of “market conditions,” according to spokesperson Jennifer Mercer.
Mercer told WAOW-TV that the company tried to turn it around and was looking for a buyer as recently as this week, but was not successful. She said it will wind down partial operations by the end of March. About 125 employees are being kept on in the call center and a warehouse.
