(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The state's agricultural community is praising Goveror-Elect Tony Evers' appointment of Brad Pfaff to lead the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.Wisconsin Farm Bureau President Jim Holte said Pfaff's rural roots give him a solid foundation to serve the state's farmers well in a stressed economic time. Darin Von Ruden of the Wisconsin Farmers Union says Pfaff proved to be an effective leader while serving as the director of the Wisconsin Farm Service Agency and as a staff member for Congressman Ron Kind. He says he looks forward to working with him in his new role. That sentiment was echoed by FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative Manager Jeff Lyon, who formerly served as Interim DATCP Secretary upon Ben Brancel's retirement.
Meanwhile, Senate Democratic Leader Jennifer Shilling said in a statement that Pfaff has extensive knowledge in agriculture policy and management and his experience will be a valuable asset to preserve Wisconsin's agricultural heritage.
