Greenwood School Board Discusses Funding Mechanisms for Secure School Entrances

-The Greenwood School Board discussed finances for safer entrances at their meeting on Monday.Possible funding mechanisms were presented to the board should a decision be made on creating more secure school entrances and a new architect from SDS will review the plan and tour the facility December 20th. The board also approved Policy 7455, Fixed Asset Accounting. They also had the first reading of NEOLA Policy Update 27.2, which are the policies numbered in the 0000’s-4000’s. The board also adopted the Resolution on School Safety, approved the Elementary and Middle/High School “School Safety Plans” and it was stated many projects from the safety grants remain in progress. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. A board member provided an update on CESA 10 and the Employee Relations Committee continues working on reviewing and revising the Supplemental Compensation program.
Elementary Principal Joe Green followed up on the comments regarding the Elementary School Winer Concert. He received many positive comments about the performance. A preview of summer school was also provided. The district is looking at a new summer program called Camp Invention. It is a STEM program and it was stated this would be a great opportunity for students. Summer School would consist of 2 weeks of traditional summer school, 1 week of Camp Invention, and then 2 weeks of traditional summer school. More details will be provided at a later time.
