Administrators' Reports at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor discussed the trip to the Stanley Theater that will happen later this month as a thank you to the students who gather more than 2000 items in their Food Drive held just before Thanksgiving. The PreK-2nd grade students will attend on December 18th and the kids in grades 3rd-6th going on December 20th. Thanks to Mrs. Grimes, Mrs. Lawcewicz and the Action Club for creating and distributing ornaments to local organizations. Congratulations to Mrs. Katie Hatlestad who received her National Board Certification. Less than 3% of teachers nationwide have attained this honor. The elementary concert was held on Thursday, December 13th at 7:00 PM. Finally, several UWGB athletes will visit the school on January 14th to meet with students in the elementary. These athletes participated in the district’s Angel Tree project and want to come and meet the students.

Middle/High School Dean of Students Julie Van Ark reported that the band and choir concert was held on Monday, December 17th in the high school gym. The Jr/Sr High will roll out a smart phone app this week called STOPiT. The app allows students to anonymously report bullying, harassment, school threats, etc. to administrators. The 7th grade students will be doing the annual performances of A Christmas Carol during the week of December 17th-20th and she recognized the tremendous job students and staff have done doing different fund raisers and projects for others during the holiday season. Finally, District Administrator Bob Houts reported that the Fab Lab grant will be delayed until the May application so that more buy in can be gathered before the grant is submitted.
