Friday, December 14th, 2018 -- 9:07 AM
-The Granton Village Board heard an update about a private well in the village at their meeting on Wednesday.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, a water sample was collected Monday from a private well at N4717 Romadka Avenue. It was sent out for testing and results will be sent next week. Also, some village employees went to Abbotsford to test drive the John Deere back hoe. Both agreed the machine was suitable for village needs and the only negative comment was the height of the hood changed the visibility. There was some discussion about postponing the purchase until spring but a price increase will go into effect on January 1st. After some discussion, a motion to purchase the 2019 310L EP Tractor Loader Backhoe for $66,650 was made and approved.
The board also discussed farm animals in the village limits. The board was asked if an exception could be made to allow horses at 516 N. Main Street. The board discussed the location of the request and agreed that due to the fact that this location is on the County Road K curve, across from the school and next to the park this would not be an acceptable place for horses or cattle.
