Owen-Withee School Board Approves Hiring School Nurse Consultant

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved the hiring of a School Nurse Consultant at their meeting on Monday.The board approved hiring Kay Heggemeier as the district’s Nursing Consultant beginning January 1st. Mrs. Heggemeier will provide support to staff who administer medicines to children and help with the development of health plans for students. The board also tabled sick time sharing amongst staff members. Two things prompted the action. With the ability/flexibility the board has to work with a staff member who requires extra sick days, and the need for an IRS compliant system in place to legally do sick time sharing, the board felt there was no need to rush into this idea. The idea will be brought back at a later date.
The board also reviewed and approved the School Safety Plan that has been developed in conjunction with CESA 10. Revisions made in the next few months will be reviewed and approved during the 2019 year. The board reviewed the written evaluations provide by the principals regarding the emergency lock down drill that was conducted on November 28. By law, the board is required to review such drills within in 30 days of the time they were conducted.
