-The Neillsville City Council approved a Parks and Recreation Grant from the 30% room tax for the bandstand project in Schuster Park.During a Parks and Recreation Board meeting held on Monday, the Parks Director asked for funds from the 30% room tax to help finish the Eagle Scout Joe Anason’s bandstand project in Schuster Park. The total cost of construction is $33,201.32. They’ve received donations of $23,542. That leaves a remaining balance of $9,659.32. Anason presented a check for $250 to go towards the project and he stated he had a commitment for another $2,800 coming. The board then requested the council approve $7,559.67 from the room tax to complete the project. The council did approve that with one alderman voting no.
The council also approved moving some money around in the budget. Due to changes in insurance use, some projects coming in over budget and other items, certain accounts had more money in them and others had less. The council approved moving money to fill those holes. Finally, the council heard that the former Christie property is now officially in their possession. The council voted to send the deed to the Property Committee. It was also stressed that the right thing be done with this property.
