-A Marshfield man arrested after causing a disturbance at a home appeared in Wood County Court on Tuesday.According to the Marshfield Police Department, back in November, they responded to a home on South Vine Street. An intoxicated man, Kurtis Wegner, said someone had stolen a gun from him. However, police determined a handgun had been confiscated from Wegner because he was distraught. Wegner barricaded himself in a back bedroom. The apartment, as well as nearby apartments and a nursing home, was evacuated. After 30 minutes of negotiations, police convinced Wegner to turn himself in.
Wegner is being charged with felon in possession of a firearm and operating a firearm while intoxicated. During his preliminary hearing and arraignment, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’ll be back in court in February.
