Merrillan Man Charged with OWI Appears in Jackson County Court

-A Merrillan man charged after driving drunk and crashing into a power pole with three passengers in the vehicle appeared in Jackson County Court on Monday.According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened back on March 11th on Highway 121 in the Township of Northfield. Witnesses say they saw Carson Scholze finish a beer at a local tavern and then drive away. When deputies arrived at the scene, beer cans were scattered everywhere.
Scholze has been charged with injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle, second degree recklessly endangering safety, and OWI first offense. He’s scheduled to appear in court next month. During his arraignment on Monday, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’ll be back in court in February.
