Mayoral Recall Election Being Held in Abbotsford Today

-A mayoral recall election is being held in Abbotsford today.The recall petition against Mayor Lori Voss was filed by City Council President Brent Faber. He declared his candidacy that day as well. The two ran against each other back in 2017. Faber was able to gather enough signatures to launch the recall. Voss feels that her bringing issues to light is what caused the recall to be brought forth. She claims that things were a mess when she began her term and the books hadn’t been reconciled for 18 years. She feels that is she had just swept everything under the rug there wouldn’t be a recall election now.
Faber was motivated to file the petition because he didn’t like the direction the city was moving in. He said he received a lot of support from residents to file the recall and then run for mayor. Both Faber and Voss are concerned voter turnout will be low and could be the deciding factor in this recall election. Polls will be open from 7am-8pm today.
