Dairy Plants in Wisconsin Still Producing More Cheese Products Compared to a Year Ago

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Dairy plants in the Badger State are still producing more cheese products than they did a year ago.

The latest dairy product summary from the USDA notes that the state churned out 290.1 million pounds of cheese in October, which was up 1.1 percent from a year earlier, and 4.1 percent more than this past September (which had less days on the calendar). Nationally, about 1.12 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States. That was 3.0 percent more than the same month last year, and 6.1 percent above the previous month's production totals.

Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 24.5 million pounds, which was down 8.0 percent from last year, but 1.4 percent more compared to last month.
