Granton School Board Approves Several Items in Preparation for Next School Year

The Granton School Board approved several items in preparation for the next school year.
First, the board heard a report by Ms. Kim Aumann, regarding the AGR, or Achievement Gap Reduction. The Board also approved the 2021-22 School Calendar update and heard a report by Food Service Director, Char Johnson regarding the CEP, or CommunityEligibility Provision, Program.
The Board also approved the Community Eligibility Provision Program for the 2021-22 school year and approved an alternative diploma for an at-risk student upon completion of credits to meet state minimum requirements.
The Board also approved an increase in insurance coverage for loss of salary or fringe benefits from $50,000/$100,000 to $75,000/$150,000 with the property insurance plan with Tricor Insurance.
The Board also approved an increase in Cybersolutions insurance coverage from $100,000 to $500,000 with the property insurance plan with Tricor Insurance.
The Board also approved additional insurance coverage of $25,000 for money and securities inside and outside the district with the property insurance plan with Tricor Insurance, approved to change coverage on the 2019 IC bus to replacement cost comprehensive/collision with a limit of $90,000 with the property insurance plan with Tricor Insurance, and approved authority for operating expenditures to be paid pending approval of the 2021-22 budget.
Regarding COVID-19 Protocol, the Board agreed by consensus that mask wearing will remain optional at this time. Masks will continue to be worn in the daycare and riding on the bus as they are both required per federal mandates.
The Board also approved School Board Policy Chapter 9, Section KB – the Grading Policy. Following an Executive Session, the Board approved medical leave for Megan Utecht, approved the contract with CESA for James Kuchta's services as District Administrator, and approved the contract addendum for Special Education Director, through CESA, for James Kuchta.
The Board also approved the principal contract for Amanda Kraus for the 2021-23 school year. For School Board Committee Reports, Cheryl Steinbach reported the Granton Area School Foundation Sweet Treats event was held on June 12th and raised over $12,000.
Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board regarding a summer activity update, the final TRG newsletter for the 2020-21 school year, and the 2021-22 school year theme of Granton School Spirit.
Interim Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on roof replacement, the Complete Control HVAC project update, and a Granton Community Child Care Center update.
