Wisconsin Farm Tech Days Discusses Longer Show Hours and Host Counties

Monday, December 3rd, 2018 -- 11:06 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Organizers of Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will experiment with holding longer show hours on one of its days in 2019.

During the group's multi-county meeting on Friday, which is designed to bring past and future committee members together to share ideas and information, coordinators announced that the show's gates will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, next summer in Jefferson County. General Manager Matt Glewen says the change is made to accommodate visitors who cannot attend the event during normal business hours. The hours of the first and third day of next year's show will continue to run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Glewen also announced that the show's executive board will convene on December 5 to decide the location of the 2021 event, which will either be the Iola Old Car Show grounds in Waupaca County or the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson--making it the first time in history that Farm Tech Days will be non-county sponsored.

However, the news does not mean the end of a six-decade tradition of moving from county to county, as Clark County has applied to bring the show back to central Wisconsin in 2022. That official announcement could also happen on December 5. The state's largest outdoor farm show will be held near Johnson Creek at Walter Grain Farms on July 23-25, 2019 in Jefferson County. Eau Claire County will host on July 21-23, 2020 at Hutsinger Farms near Eau Claire.
