Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 -- 9:54 AM

The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor notified the board about the “Sock for Soldiers” drive that’s taking place. Currently, 144 pairs of sock have been donated to the project that is being run by the Action Club. The elementary food drive, also being run by the Action Club, started on November 1st and will continue through November 16th. The goal is to gather 2000 food items for the local food pantry. American Education Week is November 12th-16th and several activities are planned throughout the week. Jr./Sr. High School Dean of Students Julie VanArk congratulated Jacob Seidel on his run at the State Cross Country Meeting on October 27th and to Jen Wendler who will sign her National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Youngstown State on November 14th at noon. Winter sports have started and Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Monday, December 3rd from 4-6pm. She also stated the High School Band is working on a community service project that involves a Christmas Gig Challenge.

Groups of musicians will be going to various organizations and businesses to perform Christmas music. Finally, Jeffer Scheuer will be inducted into the Forensics/One-Act Play Hall of Fame on Friday, November 16th. District Administrator Bob Houts provided to the board a copy of the WIAA Bulletin which featured a Sportsmanship Plus report written by one of the officials who reffed the district’s football game at Abbotsford this fall. The report shined a bright light on the sportsmanship of their team and coaches. He shared a document from Robert W. Baird that showed how school referendums did in the November election and he congratulated Jodi Rahn for the terrific presentation she did at the Wisconsin Rural Schools Association Conference and to Julie Kodl for her leadership on the Board of Directors for WiRSA.
