Neillsville City Council Hears Public Works Report
Monday, November 19th, 2018 -- 10:20 AM
The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting last week. The usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, work at the park bathrooms, equipment maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, street sweeping, snow and ice removal and more. The department is continuing with leaf pick up. When they finish their first round, they will be making a second round, but that will be the last one. If you have more leaves, they must be by the street; otherwise, they’ll sit all winter. It was also noted that the department will not pick up any pumpkins, mums or any other decoration item. Residents must take them to the compost pile themselves. The department is trying to pick up brush as well.
It was also mentioned that work is being done to the lift stations by the Water Department. The department also removed a large pine tree that fell and took down some powerlines and a power pole. Finally, the department will start putting up Christmas decoration soon. However, a new rule from power companies doesn’t allow cities to put decoration on poles the power company owns, so Neillsville residents may notice less decoration up this year. Finally, like with the second Common Council Meeting in December, they approved moving the December 25th Public Works meeting to the next day, Wednesday, December 26th.
