The Owen-Withee School Board approved the extended summer contract for the Ag/FFA advisor at their meeting on Monday.The board reviewed the request for an extended summer contract for the Ag/FFA advisor. Data on what area advisors are receiving for summer pay and the hours Mr. Engel put in last summer were reviewed. After asking Mr. Engel several questions, a motion was made and seconded to offer the Ag/FFA advisor an extended summer contract for a maximum of 40 days for $6000 per summer. The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote. The board also continued discussion of the possibility of creating a way for staff members to share their sick days with other staff members who run out of days.
Input was gathered from area districts and shared with the board. Options discussed included sharing directly with a staff member, creating a bank days the people can donate to and withdraw from, direct appeal of hardship to the board and not offering the option at all. The board tabled the item until more information, including legal ramifications, can be investigated.
