Black River Memorial Hospital Not Raising Rates

Friday, November 16th, 2018 -- 1:00 PM

Black River Memorial Hospital is consistently looking at ways to be a part of making healthcare affordable.

The Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team have approved the recommendation to not raise rates for the third year in a row for 2019. The average rate increase in 2018 for Wisconsin hospitals was 4.22%, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association. Matthew Streeter, CFO for BRMH, stated, “The people of Jackson County deserve high quality care. They also deserve high quality care that is affordable. The health care we provide is excellent and will continue to become more affordable as we continue to find ways to reduce the cost of care.” Black River Memorial Hospital offers emergency, surgical, OB, diagnostic, rehabilitation, respiratory, home-based services and more. Being the only hospital in the county, providing the care needed and remaining sustainable are very important to the health and well-being of Jackson County.

Streeter said, “We are currently expanding and renovating our facility to provide additional services without raising cost to patients. This project is essential in offering the services Jackson County needs.” Hospitals must report changes in revenue related to price increases per state law. This information is public and can be found on the Wisconsin Hospital Association website. (www.whainfocenter.com/consumers/hospital-rate-increases)
