The Neillsville City Council approved the employee dental insurance at their meeting on Tuesday. The dental plans will increase 2.8% coming to $36.21 for single, $72.42 for married and $139.79 for family. The council also approved the second increase in the Cooperative Agreement with WHPC. This agreement has WHPC pay a lump sum of $10,000 in lieu of the city collecting taxes. This is because WHPC is a non-profit and the extension will continue it into 2023. The council also approved the new owners of property at 1209 Loyd Street to keep animals there including chickens, a horse, a donkey and a potbelly pig. The previous owner of the home also kept animals there and the council approved the new owners to do so providing no complaints or issues arise.
Some other items of note from the meeting include a resident mentioning, during the appearances portion of the meeting, that she had recently been yelled at by a Neillsville business owner for expressing her opinions during the meetings. She said that as a tax paying citizen it’s her right to do so and other residents should come and speak up as well if they don’t agree with her opinions. Finally, it was mentioned that the Historic Preservation Commission has their calendars for sale again.
