Neillsville City Council Approves City Levy

Thursday, November 15th, 2018 -- 11:11 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved the city budget and levy at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council held the public hearing for the budget. However, there were no residents in attendance that spoke at the meeting about the budget. The council then approved the 2019 budget as well as the city levy which came to $1,204,642 with the TIF District included. That comes to a mil rate of $10.38 per $100,000 of property value for Neillsville residents. They also had to make a slight adjustment regarding unused levy from last year. Last year, with the levy, the city rounded down and the state rounded up, which left the city with $1 floating around. They also approved an adjust regarding the debt service levy which came to $80,618.

The council also approved rescheduling their second December meeting, which falls on Christmas Day, to the day after, Wednesday, December 26th. The council also approved the Chamber of Commerce to use Snietman Town Square and the Gazebo for their Christmas Tree Lighting on November 30th.
