Area Teachers Selected as Finalists for Crystal Apple Awards

(WDLB) -24 area teachers have been selected as finalists for this school year’s Crystal Apple Awards from the Marshfield Chamber’s Education Foundation.The finalists were surprised with gifts in their classrooms on Wednesday, and announced as “Teachers of Distinction”. The list includes second-grade teacher Chris Zanotelli from Madison Elementary in Marshfield. The other Marshfield finalists include Cari Martin from Washington Elementary, Kris Phillips from Nasonville, Janeen Herkert from Lincoln, Shelisa Schmidt and Jonathon Hitchcock from Grant, Madalyn Field from the Marshfield Middle School, Timothy Bergelin and Dean McFarlane from Marshfield High School, Brenda Kuhnau from Immanuel Lutheran, and Nancy Baierl and Deb Kennedy of Columbus Catholic.
Also named as Crystal Apple finalists on Wednesday were Steve Voss and Kara Lasiewicz of Auburndale, Abbi Roehrborn and Holly Strey of Spencer, Kayleigh Vantassel of Granton, Noah Werner and Carey Petri of Greenwood, Michelle Abel and Todd Steward of Pittsville, Kristie Bangart of St. Joseph’s in Stratford, and Mike Wisniewski of Trinity Lutheran. The Marshfield Chamber received 760 nominations for 310 different educators. The finalists will be honored at a banquet on May 1 at Hotel Marshfield. Four of them will receive top honors as Crystal Apple Award winners, and one-thousand dollars.
