Granton Village Board Update

The Granton Village Board heard the Water Report at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, Chlorine and Bac T samples were taken and water readings for the 3rd quarter were complete. They also installed 4 new meters, the park is closed for winter with utilities shut off. They also buried cremains in the cemetery, graveled and filled potholes and the waste water truck and the dump truck were taken to BLA for repair. The board also heard the Waste Water Report. The storm drains were cleaned, sewer lines were flushed and the lift basket was cleaned. Employees also attended Small Spaces Training in Plover. Finally, sampling for fall discharge has begun and Phosphorus levels are at 1.4 mg/L. They also started cleaning out ditches. The board heard the Treasurer’s Report. The beginning balance in checking was $109,253.90 and ending balance is $41,764.93. The beginning balance in the money market account was $455,635.37 and ending balance is $457,077.95. This includes money earmarked for scoreboard donations. Finally, the beginning balance in the library account was $31,127.88 ending balance is $30,920.64. The board reviewed the expense and deposit report.
The board also heard the Clerk’s Report. The election is set to go and training will be Oct 30th with PEB testing on Oct 29th. Budget prep has also begun and they’re working with Hawkins Ash to obtain audit pricing for the next 3 years. Also a resident decided he did not want to work for the village as an on call basis. Finally, during the open forum, they heard a library update. There will be a pumpkin carving contest with the winner announced November 1st. Also, there will be a Book Tasting Nov 29th, which is a 5 minute read of a book and then rotate.
