Granton Village Board Update
Wednesday, October 24th, 2018 -- 9:16 AM
The Granton Village Board discussed the village’s credit cards at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, currently the Water Department, Waste Water Department and the Clerk each hold a Citizen’s State Bank Credit Card with a $2500 credit limit. This credit card offers no cash back or incentives. The village received a Capital One Credit card offer with a 1.5% cash back offer, no annual fee, and a $500 one time cash bonus with purchases of $4500 in 3 months. The board approved canceling the Citizen’s State Bank Card and switching to Capital One. The village also discussed sidewalk restoration. They would like to encourage residents to repair and replace sidewalks that have deteriorated by offering to pay a portion of the sidewalk repair. This will be added to their budget discussions this fall.
The village also discussed the Kurth Well. The DNR requires private wells located within the village and near the village water source be tested to ensure the well is not contaminated. The village has requested water samples from N4717 Romadka Ave and the land owner has refused. The village president will talk to the land owner and advise that if a sample is not provided the village will assign the fines attached to the ordinance. Unpaid fines will be assessed to the property tax bill.
