Granton Village Board Discusses Parking Issue at Property in the Village

-The Granton Village Board discussed a parking issue at a property in Granton at their meeting last week.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, there are 3 properties located on the inverted corner of Oak and 2nd. None of the 3 properties have a garage and two of the properties have no off street parking available. Per village ordinance, there is no parking allowed on any village street from November through April. In the past, only two of the properties were inhabited. The village allowed these residents to park their cars on the village property adjacent to the locations and the residents moved their cars when needed for snow plowing. There are now 3 families and 9 cars involved.
To be fair, the village decided the following; no cars will be allowed to park on village property as this is a snow removal area. Residents can drive on a specified section of the village property to access their front yards and park on their lawn. There is a sidewalk with curb and gutter at one property. The village will allow this family to drive over the curb/gutter and sidewalk and next year the village will remove this curb and gutter and sidewalk section to allow for a driveway.
