Granton Village Board Hears Update on Main Street Property

-The Granton Village Board heard an update on a piece of property on Main Street at their meeting on Thursday.According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village is at a standstill with the foreclosing company regarding the purchase of the parcel at 516 Main Street. The bank will not sell the property unless the addendum is signed and the village attorney advised not to sign the addendum due to several contradictions. State inspectors will try to contact the bank and request they begin the process of closing the well on the property. The board requested the village contact the real-estate agent and let him know they are still interested in the property. It was also stated the Owen police Department paid $3000 for the village’s police computer and printer. And the village’s former officer would like to purchase the village’s shot gun for $100, which was approved. The village clerk will contact Owen to see if they are interested in the remaining items.
The board also heard an update on the multi-variance discharge. The village applied and paid for the application for the Economic Variance two years ago. The DNR is behind on reviewing the applications so no decision has been made yet. However, the qualifications for the Economic Variance have changed and may make the village ineligible once the application is reviewed. During the September board meeting, MSA suggested the village apply for the Multi Variance Discharge. The village opted to wait until the DNR could review the original application. MSA warned the village may not be able to apply for the Multi Variance Discharge if the Economic Variance is denied. MSA contacted the DNR and found that if the application for Economic Variance is denied, the village can then apply for the Multi Variance Discharge.
