Neighboring Schools Selected in Second Round of School Safety Grants

-Attorney General Brad Schimel announced plans to train more than 2,000 teachers and other education professionals by the end of 2018, and more than 5,000 by the end of 2019.

This training will lead to the creation of School Safety Intervention Teams at schools across the state to combat threats of violence against schools, students, and teachers. In addition to these training benchmarks, Attorney General Schimel also announced that 167 schools and school districts will receive $11,938,492 from the second round of the Wisconsin Department of Justice School Safety Grant program, which focuses on advanced initiatives to bolster student mental health. Some neighboring schools selected in the second round include the Black River Falls School District with $93,984, Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School in Medford with $10,000, Marshfield Unified School District with $220,195 and the Medford Area Public School District with $140,399.

They join all of Clark County’s School Districts, and nearby districts, that have been selected to receive fund in the second round of grants including Abbotsford ($51,125), Granton ($12,698), Owen-Withee ($37,219), Spencer ($39,313), Stanley-Boyd ($59,737), Thorp ($33,899), Neillsville ($51,581), Loyal ($28,320), Greenwood ($21,355) and Colby ($49,707).
