-A Marshfield man charged after responding to an ad on Craigslist, posted by an undercover officer attempting to catch child sex predators, was sentenced in Wood County Court on Monday.According to court records, Jared Teche responded to the officer’s ad where he was posing as a father of two girls, ages 8 and 11, stating they were available. Teche responded by offering $400 to have sexual contact with the 8-year-old. Teche had sent a nude photo of himself to the officer and he had arranged to meet the girl near the end of October. However, he backed out because he was worried the posting was a fake. The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation managed to trace the email address to Teche’s home. During an interview, Teche claimed he was trying to protect children from predators.
During his plea hearing back in August, Teche pleaded guilty to four counts of possession of child pornography. Seven other counts were dismissed and read in. On Monday, he was sentenced to seven years in prison and 10 years extended supervision. He was also sentenced to 10 years’ probation and owes the courts $2,704.
