Xcel Energy Unveils Plan to Allow Wisconsin Customers to Choose Energy Generated From Wind and Solar

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Xcel Energy has unveiled new plans that would allow Wisconsin customers to choose energy generated exclusively from wind and solar resources.The utility submitted its proposal for Renewable*Connect in a filing with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. If approved, Xcel customers who subscribe to the program would be able to secure up to 100 percent of their electricity from a blend of wind and solar resources on the Upper Midwest system.
If approved by PSC, Renewable Connect would be offered on the heels of the Solar Connect Community program, which is the state's largest community solar garden. Renewable Connect would be available on either a month-to-month basis or under a five-year contract.
