Neillsville City Council Hears Officer's Report

Friday, October 12th, 2018 -- 9:53 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Officer’s Report at their meeting on Tuesday.

For the month of September, the Neillsville Police Department saw 150 complaints, 58 service calls, 88 traffic citations, 98 traffic warnings, 7 crash investigations, 27 ordinance citations, 14 adult arrests, 7 cases referred to the district attorney’s office, 11 juvenile cases and 57 parking citations. These numbers were much larger compared to September of 2017. Some other items of note from the report include officer responding to a missing child, investigation of a sexual assault, a stolen vehicle case, loitering issues by the library, active shooter planning and training and various city locations, some training and discussion panels, a 6th offense drug arrest and an accident that occurred between a tractor-trailer and vehicle in the city.

They also were able to diffuse a very dangerous situation at Kwik Trip when two men began fighting over a domestic related incident. One of the men had a handgun. Thankfully, two Neillsville residents jumped into the fight and took away the handgun. They also arrested a man during the investigation of a possible drug overdose. The man became very belligerent towards officers and began spitting at them, attempted to disarm them and threatened them and their families.
