Owen City Council Approves a Few Items at their Recent Meeting

-The Owen City Council discussed a few items at their meeting last week.The council heard the 2017 audit from a representative from CliftonLarsonAllen. The new police chief for the Owen/Withee area reported that as a new entity, the OW Police Commission would be receiving a $2,500 grant from the League of Wisconsin Municipalities grant for the reimbursement for police training programs. The council also approved the proposal from the League of Wisconsin Municipalities for the 2018-2019 renewal of the City’s Workman’s Comp Insurance. They also approved Bowmar’s Appraisal Renewal Contract for 2019-2021. Finally, the council heard the Community Development Authority’s Report.
Tim Swiggum reported he spent two days in Eau Claire attending a mandatory training on the CDBG grant the city is receiving for updating their Compressive Plan for the City of Owen. The dedication for the Fremont Park WiFi pavilion was well attended, despite the weather. Tim will be leaving for the America In Bloom Symposium the end of the week and The Autumfest/Celebrate Community Celebration plans are in full swing.
