Committee Reports at Neillsville City Council Meeting

-The Neillsville City Council heard many committee reports at their meeting on Tuesday as the city moves into the budget season.The council heard the Board of Cemetery Commissioners Report from their meeting on September 13th. The board heard about the usual work done in the cemetery. They also mentioned an incident involving a part-time worker. The worker side-swiped a vehicle, but the information has been submitted to insurance. For the budget, the proposed 2019 budget for the department is $76,801, which is a decrease from last year’s $79,187. They also discussed the need for a technology update and a new shed/office building, estimated at $118,300, within the next three to five years. The council also heard the Neillsville Public Library Board Meeting Report from September 18th.
The board selected their officers and they approved their budget to be presented to the council. They also discussed the need for snow removal services and the library’s hours. The board approved swapping Veteran’s Day and the day after Thanksgiving. The library will now be open Veteran’s Day and closed the day after Thanksgiving. Finally, the discussed a potential author visit and have decided to disable their Wi-Fi after business hours and law enforcement feels it’s contributing to some troublesome activity.
