August Legacy Stone Ceremony at The Highground

-The Highground held another wonderful Legacy Stone Ceremony in August. There were several groups present at the ceremony including VA Chapter 256 from Minocqua, the Western Taylor County Gilman Post #359 and Boy Scout Troop #71 of Elk Mound. This was the 6th year the Elk Mound Boy Scouts participated in a Legacy Stone Ceremony. The boy scouts presented the colors with the veterans and they also helped The Highground with the ceremony that day. They also spent the previous night camping in The Highground’s picnic area. The Sromek family was also present. What started out as one stone for “dad” turned into eleven stones for various family members. 95 members of the Sromek family were on hand for the ceremony.
Afterwards the Sromeks enjoyed a picnic at The Highground. And, a week later, Greg Sromek returned and surprised The Highground with a $401 donation that was collected during their picnic.
