Marshfield Clinic Health System and Memorial Medical Center Sign Definitive Agreement to Incorporate MMC

Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 -- 10:40 AM

-Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) and Memorial Hospital, Inc. signed a definitive agreement that paves the way to incorporate Memorial Medical Center hospital and its clinics in Neillsville, Greenwood and Loyal into the Health System, providing more accessible quality health care services to the Neillsville community.

“For us this is about providing more access to excellent health care for Clark County patients close to home. We want to deliver care how, when and where our patients want it,” said Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO Dr. Susan Turney. “As our Health System grows, we will be able to offer more services, in more places, to more patients. And we will be able to do so in a more efficient manner.”

This partnership builds on more than three decades of collaboration between the two organizations. Currently six Health System specialties are active at Memorial Medical Center, with Radiology most recently added.

Closing of the deal will take place in the coming months. The two organizations aren’t releasing the specific terms of the affiliation.

However, a key element of the agreement is the formation of a local advisory board to oversee local operations. Board members will be selected from the Memorial Hospital’s board of directors, Memorial medical staff and community members as well representation from the Marshfield Clinic Health System.

Local operations include the construction of a new $40 million, 85,000 square feet, health care campus in Neillsville featuring a replacement hospital and medical office space. Contracts and plans for the project are being reviewed to determine next steps.

“The formal signing of this agreement meets the mission statement two great organizations. Going forward we will work as one to benefit the patients with additional clinical programs locally, our employees by joining a large thriving system and Clark County through the economic development opportunities that comes with a new $40m campus,” said Memorial Medical Center CEO Ryan Neville, who will remain in his leadership role with the hospital.

Memorial Medical Center also will continue its partnership with Sniteman Pharmacy, the Art of Optometry and Neillsville Care and Rehab as the construction project moves forward.
